Today I’m sharing how to get free access to audiobooks and my January Reads…actually listen 😉
Free Audiobooks

Did you know you can get access to a huge database of audiobooks for free? Yes, free audiobooks!
A couple years ago I learned that mostly every public library branch offers you free access to audiobooks via apps. The size of the database varies per library and the platforms differ. The one I use is Hoopla and it’s amazing!
They might not always have the book you’re wanting or there may be a waitlist but it’s still pretty cool to have free access to audiobook!! They even have music and movies to rent for free.
Of course there is audible, if you don’t mind a monthly fee. I’ve even seen some books on YouTube.
Next time you’re at your local public library, ask them about their free audiobook database. Calling them is an option too!

More Books in 2021
One of my intentions for this year was to read or listen to more books! More books in 2021 for me. I want to read/listen to 2-5 books per month. I met this goal in January and I wanted to share my thoughts on what I read. No spoilers, I promise.
The Alchemist
The first book I listened to this year was The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It had been on my list after Mimi Ikonn shared it as one of her favorites.
It’s a short book but packed with so many life lessons. It’s about a young shepherd boy, Santiago who decides to abandon his goal of traveling to propose to a girl he met years ago. Instead he pursues to search for a treasure that was shown to him in recurring dreams.
Why I enjoyed it: Through his journey, Santiago grows so much. He encounters failure, doubt, ridicule, hostility but he still continues to pursue what he feels called to do. It’s a great reminder to each of us to continue to work towards the things we feel called to do—our purpose and destiny. It’s uplifting and inspiring.
The Heart Mender
The second book I read in January was The Heart Mender by Andy Andrews. My husband highly recommend this book, so I gave it a shot.
It was about a 6 hour book and I finished it in 2 days!! It was super good!
It’s about the author, Andy Andrews, stumbling across buried historical artifacts near his home in the Gulf Coast. He begins trying to piece together the story held within his findings. It takes him back to WWII. It’s a mystery, love story and history lesson all weaved in one book. Seriously, so good!
Boundaries
Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend was the final book from my January reads.
This was the longest of the three and felt longer since it wasn’t in a story format. It shares the importance of establishing healthy boundaries in every relationship. It also helps you identify parts of your personality/character that make it harder for establish boundaries or accept boundaries. It’s really helped me become aware of some areas that need boundaries.
If you prefer reading actual books (it’s my preference too), find direct links to the books here!

Forever Learning
The thing I love about books is that it keeps my brain active and forever learning. Most of my day is consumed with mom responsibilities and I really look forward to ending my day with something relaxing—like an audiobook! What good books have you read/listened to lately? I always need recommendations! Much love, Melissa
