Ohhh hey! It’s been like a month or two since we have done a blog post! Life has just been so insanely busy for us both! Melissa and I are both Stay at home moms to entrepreneur husbands so that often translates to them working a ton! But we are back and are so excited to be here again! Thanks for always following along with us and giving us your love and support! We do appreciate it! I wanted to jump back into things and share my favorite things I’ve been loving this past month!

A Little Life Update

We recently moved in August, just down the street, but it still involved tons of purging, packing, organizing and unpacking! It’s been exhausting but also super fun! Our new house is super cute, has tons of natural light and we’ve been slowly starting to decorate it so stay tuned for more home decor posts!!

We also started homeschooling through a charter with my oldest daughter so it’s been fun, but also busy! We have soccer, Wild and Free nature groups and all kinds of fun field trips so it definitely keeps us busy!

And we went to Disneyland! It was so much fun! We enjoyed a week at our favorite place and it made our hearts so happy to see all of the Halloween decorations!

So that’s our little update! It’s been a busy but exciting season of life for us! A little break gave me some much needed time to get my creative juices flowing again!

My Favorite Things this Past Month

I wanted to share just a few of my favorite things I’ve been loving this past month! I always love when people share their faves because it gives me new ideas or products to try! So keep reading to see what I’ve been loving lately!

Books //

I try to make it an intention to read every day and sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t! This month I read two books and really loved them both!

The first book The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave was literally so good!! I even stayed up way past my bedtime two nights in a row to finish it! I don’t want to give too much away but it held my attention so well and was one of my fave books of the year!

The second book, Where the Grass Is Green and the Girls Are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger, bestselling author of Devil Wears Prada was a fun read! It’s about a college admission scandal, following your heart, and the reality of perfect lives! It was more of a fun read, but I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend both books!

Hair//

The next two things I’m loving are hair products! Since we live by the beach, we are constantly swimming in the oceans and pool! Our hair gets dry so we definitely have to keep it hydrated to prevent breakage!

I’ve been using the dae Monsoon Moisture Mask for the past few months and love it! It keeps my hair soft and silky! It also has clean ingredients, smells good and looks cute in my shower! I typically only wash my hair 2-3 times a week max so I just use a tiny bit of this every time and let it sit in my hair while I shave! My hair is definitely shinier and having less breakage!

My daughter’s have pretty wavy to curly hair, and my 5 year old has super long hair! It kept getting tangled and frizzy so I bought this leave in conditioner for curly hair by Verb and it works wonders! I just put a little in the hair after bath, brush through and let it air-dry! She gets perfect little waves with no frizz! It’s magic! I tried on my fine, straight hair and it was a little too heavy for me! So I highly recommend for wavy/straight hair!

Fitness//

With our move recently and a busy schedule it has been so hard to get consistent workouts in and I’ve been left feeling in a rut! I kept getting ads for Melissa Wood Health app so I decided to download and so the seven day free trial! I ending up loving it and now pay $9.99 a month for it!

The MWH Method is a series of slow controlled, low impact movements combining yoga and Pilates to sculpt long lean lines throughout the body. Her program offers pre and post natal workouts, beginner workouts and meditations and much more! I like that she has a schedule to follow so it keeps me on track and mixes it up! I’ve been following the schedule and then adding in an extra workout on days that I have time! It’s been so good and I feel refreshed after taking each class!

To add a little intensity to my workout when you for the challenge, I use these Bala bangles! I have them in 1lb and 2lb and love them! I also try to wear them while on walks! Such an added bonus!

Clothes//

I purchased a few things this month that I am loving! I’ve always been a big fan of one-shoulder looks and found this super cute top at revolve! It comes in quite a few colors and the material really surprised me! When I purchased I thought it was going to be a cotton t-shirt material, but it was actually a thicker polyester and spandex material! I like to wear it with my hair in a bun and some hoop earrings to give it that sexy peek of shoulder look!

I also love this ribbed workout sports bra and bottoms I got from Target recently! I’ve been wearing them non-stop and love the slate blue color! The ribbing is so cute and the high-waist super flattering! I paired it with this cute little open back shirt!

I’ve also been loving this billabong dress I got last month! You can wear it so many ways! I like to wear it with booties, a hat and a chunky cardigan! I’m wearing it with this little cardigan I picked up from Amazon and it’s such an easy and comfortable outfit! This outfit will definitely be a repeat and will probably be on my list of favorite things for a while! You can easily dress up or down!

And my last favorite clothing item this month was my Gap Cheeky High- Rise straight leg denim in black! I was actually going to order the Madewell Perfect Vintage denim in black because I love the fit, but I saw these on sale and figured I should give it a try! I’m so happy I did because I love them and got so many compliments on them! I wore them at Disneyland and they were so comfortable!! Highly-recommend! I would size down one size because they do stretch out as you wear them!

Randoms//

These PeapodMats Leakproof Mattress Pads! My oldest has been potty-trained for a few years now, but instill like to keep this mat over her mattress for extra protection! They are perfect for that potty-training time when you need some reassurance and accidents happen frequently!

I’ve also been loving line art recently!! I just purchased these prints from Etsy and they are so beautiful! These will go in my bathroom and were so inexpensive! You just buy the file, print at Office Depot/Staples and put in a frame! So easy and inexpensive!

Okay! If you made it this far, you are amazing!! Thank you! Hope you enjoyed reading and found some inspiration of books torneadnos things to try! These were just some of my favorite things this past month! Leave a comment below and let us know yours!

There is no denying that I have a slight obsession with hats and headbands. It all started after my first pregnancy and I had these random postpartum hairs sprouting up everywhere and basically no time to style my hair. I started out with trucker hats because I basically lived in leggings, but as time went on I started to branch out and try more and more styles of hats. It then became my most favorite accessory and truly helps me feel more put together! Over the past 4.5 years, I have really grown quite a collection! I thought I would share my top 5 favorite hats to wear year-round in case you are looking to grow your own prized hat collection.

My Most Worn Hat – Brixton Joanna Hat

No joke, this was the first hat I added to my collection 4.5 years ago and the one I get the most compliments on. It’s my all time favorite and I have had people flag me down so many times asking where I got it from and the brand. I mean if Brixton wants to sponsor me that would be amazing because they have such high-quality, yet affordable hats.

I love how this hat goes with so many different outfits too! It’s super versatile, comes in sizes XS-XL, so it will fit anyone, the wide brim provides shade while looking stylish! They have quite a few different colors and styles. I have this one with the black grosgrain band, as well as a black and natural straw patterned one that I think might be sold out! I did find some on sale now though and if you don’t like the color, you can always tie a scarf around it to cover the existing band! It’s a classic finishing touch on any spring/summer outfit!

I have this in a size small and it fits great! I probably could have done an XS, especially when my hair is straight!

This honey/red one is on sale or you can buy the natural straw/black one here! They even have a visor version as well!

The Newest Addition- Lack of Color Palma Wide Brim Hat

This was my most recent purchase in my hat collection. I had been wanting it for so long, but it was either sold out or I just couldn’t pull the trigger with the price. It is a bit on the pricier side, but it is a high-quality hat that will last for so long.

Lack of Color, an Australian brand, is like the royalty of hats! They make such quality and stylish pieces. This one, the Lack of Color Palma Wide Brim Fedora, is amazing! It’s handmade by artisans in Mexico and is made from 100% Baked Palm Leaves. It fits super great, especially with the inner elastic sweatband. It’s also a wide-brim hat so it will provide sun protection. The brim is stiff and not at all floppy, which I definitely appreciate!

I purchased it in the size Small/Medium, which fits a 55cm-57cm head! It fits great and is super neutral so I can wear it poolside in my bikini or dress it up and wear it wine tasting! It sells out so quickly so you know it’s a great hat to have in your collection!

You can find it here, here and a smaller brimmed version here! And if you like more of a boater style, shorter crown, they have this style too! So many great options!!

The Best-Selling Lack of Color Rancher Hat

Chances are you have probably seen this hat a place or two! It was so popular when it came out a few years ago and still is to this day! Whenever I wear this hat, I get tons of compliments and people asking me where I bought it. I actually won it a few years ago and have been itching to add a fun new color to my collection. They have a cute dusty rose that would be different and fun!

This classic style is inspired by the vintage Ranchers and men’s style and it definitely makes a statement. It’s a stiffened 100% wool fedora with a rigid crown. The hat is trimmed with gross grain ribbon and it comes in so many different colors. You can wear it sitting on your head or place it farther back for the more trendy look! You really can wear this with anything! I love pairing it with a midi skirt, graphic tee and some cute boots in the fall/winter months!

I think it runs a bit big so I would size down or pay close attention to your measurements. It’s a pretty stiff hat so it’s not going to mold to your head as much as others might! I have the sand color, but also love this pretty caramel color!

If you are looking for a more affordable dupe, these are two great and highly rated options. 1. Wyeth Wide Brim Sand Rancher Hat and 2. Urban Outfitters Flat Brim Felt Fedora.

This is a great style for winter and fall and can be dressed up or down! It’s super versatile and definitely one of my favorite hats!

My Very First Gigi Pip Hat- The Emma Wide Brim Fedora

Okay. I guess I have a thing for wide-brim hats?! Haha! But if it works for you, don’t change it! I just love a good wide brim hat.

I’ve been following Gigi Pip forever on Instagram, constantly bookmarking pictures or taking screenshots of their hats! I saw the Emma once on a model and was obsessed, but when I went to order it, it was sold out! Insert super sad face here! So I signed up to be emailed when they had a restock and about 4 months later they did! it just so happened to be my birthday month and I had some Gigi Pip Cash from joining their loyalty program so I promptly ordered! And let me tell you it definitely lived up to the hype!

It’s pretty similar to my Lack of Color Rancher Hat, although this one feels a bit more stiff and has a removable band that you can attach instead of ribbon! You can wear it on it’s own or add a leather band for a pop of color! I love this leopard print band so much, but it is currently out of stock! They even have fun scarves you can customize it with!

I ordered a size small in this hat and it fits great! There is also an adjustable inner band to truly customize the fit. This hat also comes in sizes XS-XL so it is great for every head shape and size!

The Perfect Hat for Active Beach Days- The Billabong Tipton Lifeguard Hat

If you are more active and need a hat that will block out the sun and stay in place, the Billabong Tipton Lifeguard Hat is perfect for you! I bought this because it was super affordable and I knew it would be the best hat to wear when I am active at the beach, either playing volleyball or chasing after my littles!

It has an adjustable chin strap so it will stay in place, even on those super windy days! I love the tropical print fabric under the brim that peeks through and gives it a cool little vibe. There are quite a few prints of this classic lifeguard style hat, but you really can’t go wrong. It’s honestly a lifesaver on those warm sunny days at the beach!

The only downside for me is that it it a one size fits all hat, so it does run pretty big on my head. However, if it is windy or I am moving a lot, I just tighten the adjustable chin strap cord and it keeps it in place.

nuuly outfits

Hey friends! I recently discovered this new clothing subscription service called NUULY, thanks to Instagram ads and late night nursing sessions. I’ve tried a lot of different subscriptions in the past, but never really found anything I loved or at least stuck with. While browsing their website, I learned they are actually created by URBN ( the company responsible for the brands Urban Outfitters, Free People and Anthropologie)! I also saw they carried some other brands I really like AGOLDE, ASTR the Label, Saltwater Luxe and Flynne Skye.

Since we have upcoming holiday photos and I need to find an outfit, I decided it would be the perfect time to try this subscription and see what happens!

How it Works//

You pay $88 (plus tax) and you receive 6 items of your choosing. It can be completely customized for what you want. One month you can choose 6 sweaters, or 3 dresses, jeans, and shirts! They even have jackets and coats so if you are going on vacation somewhere cold, you can add those to your cart!

You get to keep the clothes for a month, and at the end of the month if you decide you really loved a piece then you can purchase it at a discount. Win-Win!

Additional features

  • laundry and dry cleaning are included
  • no late fees or damage fees
  • you can cancel/pause your subscription at any time
  • fast, free shipping!

I also really loved that you can read customer reviews and see the items on real people who left reviews! It really helped me narrow down sizing or steer away from certain clothes based on my body type or height! So helpful!

My First Nuuly Order//

Item 1// Portobello Road Blouse by the Brand Spell (retails for $179). This top is gorgeous! It feels so soft, is flowy and the colors are perfect for fall. I really liked it, as long as it was semi-tucked into my jeans to create more of a shape. Perfect with a pair of skinny jeans and a bootie!

Item 2// Dean Goldie Mini Dress by the brand Auguste (retails for $149) I was immediately drawn to this dress for family photos. I ordered my true size and it fit perfectly. This was my definitely my favorite piece out of all the items. I really loved the feminine details with the ruffled sleeves and the cutout back! I paired it with my favorite block heel bootie and Lack of Color Zulu Rancher Hat and am seriously considering this outfit for our family photos!

Item 3// Free People Borderline Tunic (retails for $128) This dress checked all of the boxes for me when I saw it online! I fell in love with the high neckline and the open back. However, once I tried it on, it fell a little short. The back makes it a little hard to find a bra to wear with it. It was also a little too flowy for me, creating a slightly boxy look! I saw it on some other NUULY customers and it was so cute, but I don’t think it is the best for my body type!

Item 4// Free People Rose Valley Printed Blouse (retails for $108) The first time I tried on this blouse, I wasn’t the biggest fan. It has exaggerated, wide ruffle sleeves that made me feel like there was just too much fabric. But after I wore it once or twice, I really grew to love it! It has a cute banded waist and was just effortlessly chic!

Item 5 // Carrie Tiered Tunic Dress from Anthropologie (retails for $138) I love the deep green color of this dress. I followed the reviews and ordered a size down, however, I probably could have done two sizes down. It is definitely flowy. I actually think it would be perfect as a maternity dress! This dress is so easy to just throw on with a pair of sandals, which probably explains why I wore it twice in one week!

Item 6 // Romilly Kimono by the brand Bl-NK (retails for $128). I love the colors of this kimono. I paired it with my go to bodysuit from Abercrombie and my new skinny jeans (also from Abercrombie)! It was a cute outfit, although it kept slipping off my shoulders throughout the night. It only comes in ONE SIZE, so I probably wouldn’t order again!

Final Thoughts//

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with this box! The value of the entire box was $830, but I only paid $88! I think it is a great option for people who have a specific event they are going to or to try new trends without committing to purchasing the actual items. This would also be a great option for postpartum moms, whose bodies are still changing after giving birth!

I’m excited to pick out some new styles from the NUULY website and try them on for you next month! NUULY even has an app, which definitely helps make the decision process a bit easier.

Also on a little side note, I do not own a full-length mirror and absolutely hate taking photos so this was so hard for me to do! This was actually my second time attempting to shoot these looks, but the lighting was so off. I wanted to redo the shots so I enlisted my almost 4-year old daughter to help me! I sat her on a chair and she took all of the shots for me and was so sweet! We had so much fun and it definitely helped me feel more comfortable in front of the camera!

What is your favorite outfit? Leave a comment and let me know!

Thanks for reading!

xoxo, Kari
