I wrote a previous “wearing what makes me happy” post (check it out here) and it really encouraged me to wear what I want without letting my own negative self-talk interfere! So here is another post about wearing what makes me happy, this time its all about a mom-friendly swimsuit.
Wear that (mom-friendly) swimsuit!
I’ve always gravitated towards one-piece swimsuits and more coverage swimwear. As a mom of two, constantly moving babes, getting a mom-friendly swimsuit was so important for me. I used think of a mom-friendly swimsuit has too much ruching, built in skirts and dated prints. Thankfully, they have made huge strides and now there are super cute and flattering options. To me, a mom-friendly swimsuit is one that allows you to:
- Run and jump around playing with your kids, load/unload all the beach essentials and enjoy the waves without any nip slips….
- But also allows for easy access to the milk makers bc on demand nursing is v demanding haha
- accentuates your beautiful body in all the right places while offering support
- and lastly and most important, provides a thirst trap for your baby daddy 😉
I wanted to share some mom-friendly swimsuits that are on my wishlist. I’m really into cut outs creating a more feminine look and high waisted bottoms with a little more coverage. Get direct links to each suit here!
Confidence in My (mom) Body
I live on Kauai and generally every day we end up at the beach. So avoiding swimsuits is basically impossible for me. After having 2 kids within 3 years, my body looks very differently. Having confidence in my (mom) body has been a journey but slowly I’m learning the importance of loving my body regardless of it’s size. Honestly, it has been so emotionally freeing wearing a (mom friendly) swimsuit and actually being able to enjoy the moment rather than worrying how my body looks! And, yes, there are still some days when my super soft tummy, stretch marks, differing cup sizes, and cellulite bother me…but they are fewer and fewer. I purposed it in my heart that I didn’t want my cognitive distortions robbing me of being present with my kids.
Now, being a mom to a girl, the importance of body love has hit me in a new way. I don’t want to teach her how to be critical of her body but instead to know her true worth comes from much more meaningful things!
Capturing Memories
Capturing memories is so important to me. I’m constantly documenting my kids but rarely get candids with me kids. This past weekend I was at the beach with my family and I got lost in the moment of just “being” with them. Initially I didn’t even notice Randon taking these photos and I’m so grateful he got these moments of us together.
This turned into a much more serious post than I expected! So thank you for reading and sticking through it. If you’ve ever struggled with feeling confident in your skin, I’m with you sister! I still have my hard moments. But now that I’ve experienced the joy that comes from ridding my heart of all those negative thoughts about myself, there is so much more room for love and growth. Beauty comes in all sizes, please never doubt your beauty and worth! So find a mom-friendly swimsuit you love and wear it!
much love, friends! -Melissa
